This was a live broadcast today from Healthcare.gov with Dr. Don Berwick on the anniversary of Medicare today. Dr. Berwick goes over some of the benefits and changes coming to CMS. Harry and Bess Truman were the first recipients of Medicare and received the first cards.
There will be new web casts added every week so if you tune here again in a week or so the video presentation may change.. It was interesting to see Andy Griffith and that made me feel old

You wouldn’t think this would be a problem…but it is. Many nursing homes accept residents with severe psychiatric problems, histories of criminal conduct, or repeated aggressive and threatening behavior towards others.

This is an FDA approved bio identical drug, which means versus some of the other treatment out on the market, like Premarin, it is stated to be safer. Actually we would like some numbers on this. Dr. Erika Schwartz and I discussed the missing stats on this with the Womens Health Initiative

Last year we noted that the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) required more detailed reporting starting in 2009 by US not-for-profit organizations. Many US health insurance companies/ managed care organizations, most hospitals, nearly all medical associations, nearly all disease advocacy organizations, all health care charities, and nearly all medical schools are not-for-profit organizations. We suggested then that this reporting might lead to more transparency about the leadership and governance of these organizations. The 2009 990 forms seem to be trickling into public view, sometimes leading to some striking disclosures about how US not-for-profit health care organizations are lead.

As Cegedim states on their website they have locations in 80 countries and now they can add electronic medical records to their suite of healthcare offerings. The company is traded and listed on the NYSE Euronext stock exchange and is headquartered in France.
In January the company purchased another US company SK&A Information Services who specializes in CRM software for healthcare and life sciences.

Fundamental Corporate Failures
In the last few years, there seems to have been an epidemic of once revered companies suddenly unable to perform the most basic functions necessary for their businesses. Finance firms ran out of money and ended up bailed out or bankrupt. An automobile firm produced cars that seemed to accelerate out of control. Another automobile company, once the world’s biggest, went bankrupt and had to be bailed out by the government. An oil company took months to cap a blown out well.

In the electronic medical record business we are starting to see partnerships develop right and left for additional support offerings along with the potential for additional marketing and sales.
Even outside the core business of medical records with software that connects and integrates we are seeing this as well. Last week we saw Best Buy partner with a software company to offer sales and support and more specifically support for devices that connect and report data.
